The Bellcote

An attractive new build public house constructed in the open countryside

Client:
Barnes Construction

Location:
Ashley Green, Chesham

Sector:
Hospitality & Hotels

The Bellcote is a new 180 cover Marston’s Public House constructed on the site of an old garage and filling station located in the green belt of Chesham, as defined by planning policy.

Extensive discussions took place with the Local Authority’s Planning Department throughout the duration of the project in respect of the building design. The whole building is timber frame construction which shortens site periods by comparison with conventional techniques.

The scheme incorporates materials sympathetic to those found on other local buildings such as flint and clay pan tiles. The distinctive main road elevation is further enhanced by the inclusion of a sand blasted oak frame to one of the gables.

External space for customers is put to best use by way of a high quality landscaping scheme. The restaurant leads out onto an attractive external patio area. A handsome formal garden has been densely planted with a view to making the development appear well established as soon as possible.

An attractive interior design scheme has been adopted which provides an up to date customer experience, but nonetheless complements the traditional finishes of the architecture. As if to underline this, there has been a great deal of positive customer feedback saying they were drawn in by the quality of the exterior before being further impressed by the interior design and finishes.
