How a tricky steeply sloping site was cleverly overcome

Client:
Hopkins Homes

Location:
Norwich, Nofolk

Architecture

This eight-storey apartment building in Norwich City centre was built into a steeply sloping site necessitating a full two-storey level difference from the front of the building to the rear.

We used a traditional steel frame construction and hollow rib composite floors clad externally with stack bonded brickwork and render with projecting steel mesh balconies to create a contemporary urban aesthetic.

In all, 56 apartments and two penthouse suites were created.

Pedestrian access was created from the upper street level whilst vehicular access and undercroft parking was provided from the lower level of the site.
